SASKIA DEN BOON
COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR AND GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Originally from Wisconsin, Saskia is currently pursuing a Dual Degree in Vocal Performance and English at Boston University. She has a rich musical history as a vocalist, pianist, cellist, and aspiring composer. In the past, Saskia apprenticed at Madison Opera under artistic director John DeMain, and has received such awards for her musicianship as the Becknell-Gilbert Choral Award and yearly Superior Awards from the National Piano Federation. Saskia is also an imaginative and talented writer, winning Boston University's College Prize for Excellence in English, the 2023 Gregory Hudson Award for Writing Excellence, and the 2022 Alice Brennan Humanities Award. Saskia's writing is deeply indebted to music, infused with purposeful attention to tone, pitch, and rhythm. Her work is impressionistic and often focuses on sonic world-building. She aspires to be a multimedia and interdisciplinary author, whose children's and fantasy novels will feature accompanying soundtracks composed by Saskia herself.
Saskia has been with Juventas since February 2021. Her favorite part of the job is the opportunity to connect with emerging composers by supporting them in telling their unique stories.
