SADIE HABAS

Development Coordinator

Originally from the suburbs of San Francisco, California, Sadie Habas (mezzo-soprano) is a junior at Boston University, studying Vocal Performance under the tutelage of Dr. Lynn Eustis whilst minoring in Political Science. She recently returned from studying voice at the Royal College of Music in London for a term.

Sadie has an extensive choral background, and was a member of the Grammy-Award winning San Francisco Girls Chorus (SFGC) for nine years. As a chorister in the Premiere Ensemble of SFGC, she toured both domestically and internationally, performing contemporary choral music that reflects current topics of justice. Sadie has had the opportunity to perform for former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, former California Senator Diane Feinstein, Composer Philip Glass, and Singer Tony Bennett. In SFGC, she became committed to new music and developed her solo voice, which inspired studying music at the university level. Since then, through pursuing voice at Boston University, she advanced as a finalist in the 2023 New England National Association of Teachers of Singer (N.A.T.S.) Competition. Additionally, in 2022, she won Second Place in the Boston N.A.T.S. Competition.

As a musician and activist, Sadie is interested in discovering how the arts can be used as a vehicle for social and structural change in our society. She was formerly a

Social Justice Fellow at BU Hillel, where she volunteered locally in Boston to help dismantle food insecurity. Additionally, she served as School of Music Representative for the BU College of Fine Arts Student Government, advocating for the School of Music student body.

Sadie was a former Arts Administration Intern at Juventas New Music Ensemble, and is now the Development Coordinator, beginning in January of 2024. Sadie feels honored to work for an organization whose mission is to bring light to diverse perspectives and to celebrate classical music as a living, breathing art form.
