Composer Feature: Moshe Shulman

Our Composer Feature Series is Back! This week, we spotlight composer alumnus Moshe Shulman.

Dr. Shulman received composition degrees from the Jerusalem Academy of Music in addition to a PhD from University of New York at Buffalo. In addition to composing, he plays violin, viola, accordion, and bandoneon. He performs a variety of genres, including classical, Argentine tango, Klezmer, and Romani.

Dr. Shulman's work has received recognition from the American Prize, the International Jurgenson Competition in Moscow, and the Fromm Commission.

In recent news, Dr. Shulman has received a grant of $10,000 from NYSCA to write a piece that involves dancers from different cultural backgrounds. he music will bear elements of Balinese, Indian, belly dance, ballet, contemporary, Chinese and Ghanaian musical cultures. The piece is scheduled to be premiered on August 10th, 2025 at Artpark near Buffalo, NY. Congratulations!
